Thanks alot for your comments I really appreciate the feedback. You know I think that Civil 3D is dynamic enough to be used in a multitude of fashions. I definitely think that leach pads could be done, however I have yet to personally do anything with them. Now dams on the other hand I feel could be accomplished it just depends on what you would like to do with them. With the new grading features you could essentially create a grading object that replicates the fall of the dam, probably from the top going down to the bottom surface, then based on the surface the grading object creates, you could add a render material and have a model to visualize. The other surface below the dam could also have a render material, the only difference would be the bottom surface would have a render material of say soil and the dam surface would probably be concrete. Does that help? Where you planning on having a road go across the top of the dam? If so then after the dam is created then add your alignment, profile, then create your assembly and then presto chango it magically appears. . . kinda. Please email me at dominick.gallegos@cad-1.com and I would be more then happy to help you out in solving if Civil 3D is right for you.
Sincerely,
Dominick
Congratulations and thanks a lot for your posts Dominick,
I've been working with LDT most of the time in the mining field and I feel that CIVIL 3d is not appropiate for our design work so I have a question:
Do you think that leach pads, dams are suitable for Civil 3D as roads seem to be?
Thanks
F.
